DA Hike July 2025 : : Central employees may get a good news soon. Like every year, this time also an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) can be announced in July. Currently DA, which is running at 55%, can now increase to 58% or 59%. That is, there can be an increase of 3 to 4 percent in the salary of central employees.
DA Hike July 2025
Dearness allowance is actually the amount given by the government to the employees to give relief from rising inflation. It is revised twice every year – in January and July.
What is CPI-IW and why is it important?
The index which is most important for deciding dearness allowance is AICPI-IW i.e. All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. It is prepared by the Labor Bureau of the Ministry of Labor. On the basis of this index, DA of central and state government employees as well as PSU and industrial workers is decided.
When there is an increase in this index, then the dearness allowance also increases directly. On the other hand, if it falls, then the dearness allowance may also decrease.
AICPI-IW index is increasing continuously : DA Hike July 2025
According to the data of the Labor Bureau, the CPI-IW figure was 143 in March 2025. It increased to 143.5 in April and 144 points in May. Earlier this figure was 143.2 in January and 142.8 in February. It is clear from this continuous increase that the increase in DA is also considered certain.
At present, central employees are getting 55% dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission. According to the CPI-IW data of May 2025, the DA score has increased to 57.85%. The data for June is yet to come, but it is estimated that this average can increase to 58.85%.
How is Dearness Allowance decided?
A special formula is used to determine dearness allowance:
(12 months average AICPI-IW – 261.42) / 261.42 × 100
Currently the average AICPI-IW of 12 months has reached 144.17. According to this, the rate of DA should be 58.85%. In such a situation, the government can increase DA by 3 to 4 percent to 58% or 59%.
When Will the DA Hike Be Announced?
It is believed that the central government can announce the new DA rates in the second or third week of July. Its effective date will be July 1, 2025 and millions of central employees and pensioners will get its benefit.
