Check PF Balance Online Using EPFO Portal
Now you can easliy check your PF balance from EPFO portal. For this, you need to activate your UAN (Universal Account Number). UAN is a unique employee number, which is given by EPFO. Once UAN is activated, follow the steps given below:
- Go to the EPFO website.
- Go to the ‘For Employees’ section and click on ‘Member Passbook’.
- Login by entering your UAN number, password and captcha.
- After login, you can see your PF balance and transaction details by going to the ‘Passbook’ tab.
This facility is available 24×7 and there is no charge for it. If you have forgotten the password, you can create a new password from the ‘Forgot Password’ option.
How to check PF balance from UMANG App?
UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is a government mobile app, which provides many government services including EPFO. To check PF balance:
Download the UMANG app (from Google Play Store or Apple App Store).
Register and select ‘EPFO’ service.
Click on ‘View Passbook’ in ‘Employee Centric Services’.
Enter your UAN number and verify OTP.
You will get the complete details of PF balance and passbook.
This method is the easiest for mobile users, because in this balance can be checked anytime, anywhere.

If you do not have internet, you can still know the PF balance. For this, EPFO ( Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation ) has provided the facility of SMS and missed call.
Know PF balance by SMS –
Send SMS from your registered mobile :
‘EPFOHO UAN HIN’
Send this message to 7738299899 number.
You can enter the code of your language in place of HIN (eg ENG – English, MAR – Marathi etc.).
In a few seconds you will get information about PF balance through SMS.
Know PF balance through missed call –
To know about PF balance, EPFO members have to give a missed call to 9966044425 from their registered mobile number. The call will be disconnected automatically and you will get the PF balance in SMS.
Note : SMS and missed call facility will be available only when your mobile number is linked to UAN and KYC is complete.
