Govt Employees Promotions 2025 : The General Administration Department (GAD) has held a meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to give promotion to Class IV employees. The Public Works Department, Commercial Tax and Election Commission have also held separate meetings for some categories. Promotion orders were also issued in the elections. Many departments like School Education have completed the process of taking consent.

On the other hand, additional work is also being done in those departments where the process of completing the confidential character roll (CR) of government servants was incomplete.
Meanwhile, due to the challenge given to the case in the High Court by the employees of the SAPAKS category, once again the hopes of officers and employees to get promotion after nine years have come to an undeclared halt. (govt employees retirement)
Promotion Delay May Retire 1500+ Govt Employees Without Benefit
If the situation remains the same till July 30, then more than 1500 officers and employees will retire without promotion. Before this, one to one and a half lakh have retired in this manner.
Until the court gives its decision, all the actions like writing CR, taking consent from government servants for promotion, holding DPC meetings in departments, starting from the ministry to the district level, will come to a standstill. Govt Employees Promotions 2025 : Deadline for First Phase of Promotions
All the departments have to give promotions by 31st July under the first phase. The Chief Secretary (CS) had held a meeting at the end of June. Instructions were given to ACS, PS, Secretary and department heads. It was also said that as many promotion related cases as can be settled, should be settled.
For the remaining government servants, meetings should be held in September-October. The government has decided to hold DPC twice this year to expedite the promotion related cases pending for nine years.
Generally, DPC will be held only once a year from the next financial year. This year, the process related to the first DPC in all the departments has to be completed by 31st July.

10 June 2025 : Discussion on the proposal of promotion rules in the cabinet.
17 June 2025 : The proposal of promotion rules got approval in the cabinet.
19 June 2025 : Notification issued.
26 June 2025 : Chief Secretary set the deadline of 31 July.
